Reinventing the classic ballads album is like trying to reinvent the musical wheel. Instead of drawing directly from the iconic John Coltrane "Ballads" (Impulse, 1962), tenor saxophonist Michael Pedicin channels the inspiration from Coltrane's epic release to put forth his own personal touch on timeless standards as well as a highly lyrical if not ironic original fitting in this classic of jazz presentations.
