The most thrilling belonged to veteran singer-pianist Yoko Noge, whose Japanesque ensemble fearlessly fused Japanese folkloric traditions, unrepentant Chicago blues and incendiary contemporary jazz. Noge has been combining these elements in various bands for many years, finally achieving a seamless merger of them.
