Oklahoma Jazz Singer Dies in France

Nine months after he was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame,
noted jazz singer Joe Lee Wilson has died in France.  He was 75.
Wilson was born on a farm in Bristow in 1935 and went to Los Angeles to first study classical singing. He later switched to study jazz and went onto a career in which he performed with some of the greats in the jazz world...Miles Davis, Lee Morgan and Sonny Rollins.  Wilson later opened a jazz club in New York City then moved to Europe in the late 70s.
Survivors include his wife Jill and daughter Naima.
