France: “African Attraction!” Festival @ Le Baiser Salé

Throughout July, Le Baiser Salé holds a series of sixteen concerts, four free, of African music and jazz fusion.

For the past ten years throughout the month of July, Le Baiser Salé receives the stars and up-and-coming talents of Afro jazz. During this anniversary year, this friendly club in the Rue des Lombards is once again raising the temperature with a wild programme.

During four free jam sessions, stars of the Afro jazz scene (singer and pianist Patrick Bebey, percussionist François Constantin, double bass player Henri Dorina and drummer Francis Arnaud) will have you grooving while saxophonist Samy Thiébaut will present the up-and-coming talents amongst the students at the Choisy-le-Roi conservatory.

On 11th July, don’t miss an encounter between two stars of the saxophone, Perico Sambeat and Gaël Horellou, accompanied by the double bass player Nicolas Moreau, or the carte blanche evenings from 12th to 16th July hosted by another great saxophonist, Sophie Alour, who is a happy rule-breaker in the world of jazz.

You can also hear great singers such as the sensual Abyale presenting a jazz soul repertory and guitarist and singer Amar Sundy from North Africa (on 21st).

As for the Lusitanian big band led by Carlos Do Nascimento which envelops you in the sounds of its latest voyages to Brazil, Angola and elsewhere, it alone is worth the trip to Le Baiser Salé (on 2nd).
