Pianist Chris Donnelly's second album "Metamorphosis"
On Donnelly's second album - again solo - he records a single 50-minute composition. The results are stunning.
Metamorphosis is based on the 1939 work of that name by world-renowned Dutch graphic artist MC Escher. Just as Escher's monumental graphic delights its viewers with its imaginative shape-shifting, Donnelly's composition takes the listener on a fascinating journey through a musical landscape that changes subtly and seamlessly. Already out in Canada, the CD is earning rave reviews: "Bravely defying sound bites and mix and match playlists, young Toronto based pianist Chris Donnelly has unleashed on the world Metamorphosis, a 50-minute musical behemoth that is a full concert, a history of jazz piano and a portrait of a remarkable talent all rolled into one." - Toronto Star
