For his third OA2 recording, composer/pianist Rich Pellegrin presents his decade-old quintet performing five enigmatic compositions - from the raw intensity of "Trial" to the mystical, inscrutable hues of the title cut, "Down" - along with an extended alternate version of "Down," recorded with a contemporary classical ensemble at the University of Missouri - the Mizzou New Music Ensemble. Together, eleven diverse musicians create a radiant texture of interweaving lines, extending the vital, collaborative focus for which the band is already known. OA2

Guitarist Bill Frisell will headline the Les Paul Festival Concert on Saturday night, February 16, 2019 in the Sharp Theater at Ramapo College. Often hailed as one of the most distinctive and original improvising guitarists of our time, Frisell’s career as a guitarist and composer has spanned more than 35 years and 250 recordings, including 40 of his own.
“It's hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell. Mixing rock and country with jazz and blues, he's found what connects them: improvisation and a sense of play. Currently Frisell is the Guest Curator for the Roots of Americana series at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Resident Artistic Director at San Francisco Jazz.

Described by Daily News writer Greg Thomas as “…the man with four hands,” percussionist David Silliman moves from the cajon, to drum set to a huge array of percussive instruments surrounding him in creating his signature sound. He is bringing his “friends” including his wife on Friday, February 15, 2019 to play at a 7:30pm concert on the stage of the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall, SUNY Orange.
Each musician of the David Silliman and Friends jazz quintet brings his/her expertise in playing while together creating a cohesive sound that allows the individuals to shine. An appreciation of each other’s talents fuels the energy within the group.
David Silliman is known for his versatility as his career has found him accompanying song stylists Mariah Carey, Cassandra Wilson, and Blossom Dearie as well as being the rhythmic force when playing with electric harpist Edmar Castaneda. He also is comfortable playing with the New Jersey Symphony or in the pit of a Broadway show.
Likewise, Marshall Gilkes plays his trombone with diverse musical ensembles such as the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Edmar Castañeda chamber jazz ensembles, Latin jazz as well as big bands, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
Pianist George Dulin has played in several genres of music including free jazz, classical, rock and film music, in trios and big bands, as well as playing concertos with orchestras in music festivals plus Birdland, The Bluenote, Smalls, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola.
Even though the main focus of bassist Morrie Louven’s musical life is jazz, he toured the world for many years with pop icons Engelbert Humperdinck, Barbra Streisand, The 5th Dimension, and Paul Anka. In addition, he has performed with The New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He plays his beloved Rogeri contrabass, circa 1713.
The vocals for this versatile group are provided by Saundra Silliman who works with her husband, but more often with Tony Cimorosi's NY International band. She has performed in musical theatre at BAM and Ford’s Theatre. Her sound has been influenced by R & B, Funk and Gospel music. Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times states, “Saundra Silliman may be the best-kept secret in jazz.”

One of the dominant figures in the international classical guitar scene is Fabio Zanon, pre-eminent guitarist as well as a teacher, chamber player, conductor, author, and broadcaster, is performing an all-Brazilian recital at the Opera Center in New York on February 16th, 2019. Presented by the Brazilian Music Foundation, as part of its Classical Music Concert Series, the program will include works by Villa-Lobos, Edino Krieger, and Francisco Mignone’s Etudes for guitar. This program is part of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Villa-Lobos’ death.

About Fabio
A dominant figure in international classical guitar, he is also known as a teacher, chamber player, conductor, author, and broadcaster. Mr Zanon has been a Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London since 2009; he has also been a regular teacher at the Master Guitars Alicante in Spain since 2014. In 2008 he was an artist-in-residence at the Royal Stockholm Conservatoire in Sweden and has been a teacher-in-residence at the Lisbon-Estoril International Festival since 2011. He has taught master classes at most prestigious schools in the USA, Canada, South America and Europe, including Juilliard and Gnessin.
First prize at both the Guitar Foundation of America in the USA and the Francisco Tarrega Competition in Spain in 1996 propelled Mr Zanon’s career. Prior to that he had already been a top prize winner in competitions in Alessandria (Italy), Toronto and Havana.
As a soloist Mr Zanon has played in over 50 countries, at venues including Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Weill Hall at Carnegie and 92nd Street Y in New York, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Philharmonic in St Petersburg, Les Invalides in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro Opera House, Amazonas Theatre, Sala Verdi in Milan, and KKL in Lucerne to name a few.
He has played over 40 concertos, many of them as world premieres, with orchestras such as London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Ulster Orchestra, RTÉ Symphony in Dublin, Israel Chamber Orchestra,
I Fiamminghi, Evgeni Svetlanov State Orchestra in Moscow, and Salzburg Chamber Orchestra.
Mr Zanon has recorded for labels such as Musical Heritage, Decca, and BIS and is now an exclusive GuitarCoop artist.
