“Solid compositions and powerful arrangements enhance the band’s bottom line. Essentially, Terzic casts a mark of distinction since many other efforts of this ilk either favor commercial potential or the respective musicians’ technical prowess. The keyboardist successfully fuses both of those factors into a set that has significant replay value.” GLENN ASTARITA / All About Jazz

"Ligheryan Rhapsody", the new album by the croatian pianist and composer Matija Dedić that arrives at his first solo work after fifteen years of intense recording activity. The idea of the album was born spontaneously by some piano improvisations during recording sessions while he was working with other projects. After three successive improvisation’s sessions the music takes shape in eleven piano solo songs that would make the track list. The compositions appear as a deep reflection on improvised music, the world in which the author perceives the existence to its full expression, and at the same time a tribute to composers of contemporary music who influenced him along his artistic career.-Workin' Label

Line Up: Klaus Paier / accordion, bandoneon Asja Valcic / cello Paier and Valcic’s music is daring and full of curiosity, they present us with a road movie beyond convention that is full of layers and colours. “Silk Road” still maintains a unique and homogenous sound created by two adventurous explorers, who both fully master their instruments whilst complementing each other perfectly. "Nevertheless, “Silk Road“ has a unique and homogenous sound. The title song demonstrates Paier’s ability to introduce and transform musical themes: the bandeneon theme appears from a distance, builds up and becomes loaded with energy through elaborate pauses and rubatos. Equally masterful is the final piece “How Roses Are” that Paier has dedicated to his American colleague, accompanist and longstanding friend Frank Marocco, who died in March. However, it is an optimistic, even a cheerful song – a jazz farewell from Austria to Chicago in the New Orleans tradition." ACT

Sometimes he likes to call his music “Fellini Jazz“. He brings Mediterranean flair to the epicentre of American jazz. He explores classical music and influences from India and the Far East and combines “folklore imaginaire“ with free forms of expression. Ratko Zjaca is a bridge-builder par excellence who keeps on delving his pillars into new waters. IN+OUT Records releases a portrait of this exceptional Croatian guitarist which presents the different facets of his career, with ten pieces of music spanning ten years and featuring him in a variety of line-ups. Zjaca studied classical music in Zagreb, then plunged into modern idioms at Rotterdam and at the New York University School of Music. He started to attend master classes given by the likes of Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Bob Brookmeyer, Joe Pass and Jim Hall. The last two in particular left their mark on his playing which has always been orientated towards the USA. Amongthe first musicians to appreciate his remarkable string wizardry were bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Al Foster. Ratko teamed up with these two in New York in 2000 for an intimate and intense trio experience, captured on the album “A Day In Manhattan“.In + Out

All About Jazz (Dan McClenaghan) Pianist Matija Dedic's MD in NYC tiptoes into existence on a delicate rhythm, joined in short order by a sprinkling of crystalline notes in the melody, with a whisper of brushes and spare but assertive bass lines. "Her Name" is one of the pianist's five originals in the set, and has a wistful reverence that speaks, perhaps, to a yearning inf...
Stereophile (Thomas Conrad) Jazz has become a truly international art form in the new millennium, and some of its most creative players now come from places like Zagreb, Croatia. What makes Matija Dedic special is his touch and the way his poetic concept unfolds and deepens over the course of an album. Dedic is as seductive as Tord Gustavsen. The opening of the first track he...
Jazz Scan (Ric Bang) This album demonstrates anew that jazz truly is an international art. Matija Dedic, born in Croatia in 1973, began to play classical piano at age 5: a common path for Eastern European music students. He had broadened his interests by his 18th birthday, and he subsequently entered the Graz Jazz Academy. After graduation, he delivered his style of ja...

“Musical Document from Eternity of Universe”
The songs on this album are complex, but in Tamara’s interpretation they seem a piece of cake – they sound flippant, dancing, as if that very combination of words and music was recorded in the eternity of the universe, just waiting for someone to translate it into the language of us mere mortals.
Although the music on Tamara’s seventh album will thrill you right from the very first hearing, its true value, like the value of the most valuable achievements of the world art, will be disclosed only when you hear it again and again, and you will simply keep listening to it time after time because every new listening will reveal some new filigree details, new sounds, new discreet interactions, new emotions, new refinement, new charm...
In the interpretations included in this album, Tamara artlessly and logically unites a serious approach and joke, tradition and modernity, classical music and ethno, formal demands and freedom, melody and improvisation, regional and middle-European.
Her music is unique, but also universal, close to a man who is ploughing the red Istrian soil, but also to every human being who feels the beauty of the fruits yielded by the soil of any colour.
