John Lester Quartet - Jazz? (2012)

The new album ~ John Lester Quartet “Jazz?” ~ is now available!

"Jazz?" sets ten modern rock songs into a late 1950’s jazz context and brings together John’s love for both great contemporary songwriting, and the open improvisation of a jazz quartet.

The album was recorded in London at Eastcote Studios, and features John on vocals and double bass, with Theo Travis on saxophone and flute, Steve Lodder on piano, and Davide Giovannini on drums. The album was mixed in NYC by Brian Montgomery at Spin Studios and mastered by Randy Merrill at Masterdisk.

The “Jazz?” New York Album Launch Party was on September 29th. John introduced his New York quartet, featuring Jarret Cherner on piano, Peter Sparacino on sax, and Tim Bulkley on drums, to a full house at Flute in Gramercy Park.

A European double-bill tour now follows with Paul Tiernan. The tour begins on October 26th with duo dates in Germany and Switzerland and runs through early November.

John will also play a London CD Launch Show on November 7th at the 606 Club. John is very pleased to return to the 606, as this club was the birthplace of the concept for the “Jazz?” project. This show will feature the albums line-up of Theo Travis, Steve Lodder, and Davide Giovannini.
