Influenced by northern European aesthetic and by the American giants, the music of saxophonist Patrick : Lampron expresses a controlled passion, a quiet activity, a playful serenity. It brings us into the great field of improvisation, following its path at the whim of present moments. Organic and spontaneous, from traditional jazz to free jazz, relegating stylistic to second place, his work encourages us to an introspective journey, highly liberating. His approach follows the tradition of the greats: that of finding and expressing his voice.
A native of Amos in Abitibi,Québec, Canada, Patrick : Lampron starts at a young age his musical education, with the use of the family piano. At twelve years old, he discovers the tenor saxophone, to which he dedicates himself to its improvement. His passion and talent led him to finish a bachelor degree in Jazz Interpretation at University of Montréal , to perform on the seven seas as a multi-intrumentalist for different cruise line companies, and in 2010, he finishes a Master Degree at McGill University in Jazz composition-arrangement-performance. With his friends and colleagues Dominic Gobeil et Joel Kerr, he plays an active role in their respective project, DG4 et Joel Kerr Quintet, which has been well received by the Montréal critic. This collaboration led him naturally to produce his first album, Walking the Path, with the same accomplices.
