FRANCE: Paolo Fresu,A Filetta: Mistico Mediterraneo in Paris

A Filetta: Jean-Claude Acquaviva: baritone (seconda) | Jean-Luc Geronimi: baritone (seconda) | Paul Giansily: tenor (terza) | Francois Acquaviva: bass (bassu) | Joseph Filippi: bass (bassu) | Jean Sicurani: bass (bassu) | Maxime Vuillamier: bass (bassu)
Paolo Fresu: trumpet, flugelhorn | Daniele Di Bonaventura: bandoneon

This is a high level meeting between the stars of Corsican polyphony, the figurehead of Italian jazz and the bandoneon-player, di Bonaventura. Having brought the music of Sardinia, the island of his birth, to projects such as Sonos ‘e memoria and Etnografie, Paolo Fresu continued his journey through traditional Mediterranean sounds to Corsica for a meeting inspired by the polyphony of the sister island. On this journey he was accompanied by Daniele di Bonaventura with his bandoneon, an instrument of air and breath, the perfect link between the trumpet of the spiritual inheritor of Miles Davis and Chet Baker and the seven voices of the group A Filetta.

Místico Mediterraneo, born from a long friendship, is thus the fruit of the musical imagination of musicians at a point of balance between memory and innovation. A meeting which has an expressivity consisting of delicacy, melancholy, boldness and contemplation, and which brings together artists at the peak of their art.
