Turkish-Canadian ensemble Minor Empire astonishingly blurs the line between traditional Turkish music and contemporary electronic tones. With Middle Eastern instruments such as the lute and the Kanun, mixed with electric guitars and machines, the group succeeds genuinely in projecting us in both the caravanserais of the past and the modern digital age.
A most multifarious concert that mixes Turkish folk music with jazz, electronica, psychedelic rock, the frenzied rhythms of Darbukas and hypnotic guitar chords, all exalted by the spellbinding voice of the exceptional singer Ozgu Ozman.
